Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 31, 2026
Who we are
Kidipod is a children's podcast creation app that lets kids record their own podcasts, tell AI-assisted stories, and share them with family. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What data we collect
When you create an account or use the app, we may collect:
- Email address and name — collected via Google sign-in, used to identify your account.
- Child's name and age group — entered in the setup form and sent to our AI to personalise the story. This information is not stored in our database.
- Podcast audio recordings — uploaded to Cloudflare R2 storage when a podcast is created. Podcasts saved to your library are retained until you delete them.
- Podcast metadata (title, language, creation date) — stored in our database only when you explicitly save a podcast to your library.
How we use your data
- To operate the app and generate personalised AI stories for your child.
- To store and serve podcast recordings you have saved to your library.
- To generate your personal RSS feed so you can optionally submit your podcasts to Spotify or other podcast platforms.
- To authenticate you and secure your account.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
Third-party services
Your data is processed by the following services solely to provide the app's functionality:
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI story generation. Child name and age group are sent per request and are not retained by Anthropic beyond the API call.
- OpenAI — Text-to-speech narration and speech-to-text transcription of the child's recordings.
- ElevenLabs — Premium voice synthesis (premium plan only).
- Cloudflare R2 — Secure audio file storage.
- Supabase — Database for user accounts and saved podcast metadata.
- Google — OAuth sign-in.
- Vercel / Render — App hosting.
Children's privacy
This app is designed for children but accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children. A child's name entered in the setup form is used only for story generation and is never stored.
Data retention
Your account and saved podcasts are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual podcasts from the library at any time. To request full account deletion and removal of all associated data, contact us.
Your rights
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
To exercise any of these rights, reach out via your account email.
Security
Account authentication is handled via Google OAuth. We use HTTPS throughout and store no passwords. Audio files are stored in private Cloudflare R2 buckets accessible only via signed URLs.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
